I awoke to a dream I had known before,
A barren expanse, desolate and sore
Through which I wandered, staff in hand,
In dream-like trance to splendid shore.
Of dark Helheim - did ancient hof rise
Black fortifications and monolithic towers loom
Stark and gigantic, blocks only a Jotun can move -
Not like druid menhirs this haunted keep,
These cobbled streets and cold stone walls
I know yet only half recall.
Wandering one-eyed through winding ways
Beneath a pale steel sky where black stars blaze,
From some distance off I turned to hear
The Song of Hel, which I love so dear.
Then flaps the tattered banner bright -
The Yellow Sign aglow in darkest night!
