It is not surprising that a combination of purified senses and disciplined mind would recognize the Black Flame.

One of the first organic thoughts of primitive man must have been the process of death upon his own kind - the physical decomposition, the rapidity in which the skeleton emerges, then the slow disintegration to earth. But was there something else observed, perhaps something beyond the material?

I suggest they realized an ultimate reality - that though change was the nature of physical existence, there existed a Force behind all Forms. For humans today to reach this conclusion, it is logical to assume that this mythical perception sprang forth from an primordial point.

This perception of existence could be referred to as 'the evolution of expansive consciousness'. For it is not just the propensity of matter to metamorphose - for this line of thinking is not evolutionary - but the mind and psyche's interpretation of this event that must have been a catalyst in the broadening of consciousness.

Consciousness searchs for expanded experience; therefore, evolution - like initiation - is the succession and subsequent destruction of resulting form. This would also mean that biological evolution rests upon a trinity of Function, Substance, and Form.
-Function is the creative cause,
-Substance the seed-source, and
-Form the physical existence.
All three seek out the Black Flame, for therein lies the pulse of their evolution.
